On January 17th, the National Bureau of Statistics released the energy production data for December 2023. The data reveals that in December, the electricity generation from large-scale industries reached 829 billion kilowatt-hours, marking an 8.0% year-on-year increase. Breaking down the data by energy sources, the growth rate of thermal power generation in large-scale industries accelerated in December, while hydropower, wind power, and solar power generation experienced a slowdown, and nuclear power witnessed an expanded decline.
Specifically, thermal power saw a growth of 9.3%, with the growth rate increasing by 3.0 percentage points compared to November. Hydropower increased by 2.5%, with the growth rate decreasing by 2.9 percentage points from November. Nuclear power experienced a decline of 4.2%, with the decline expanding by 1.8 percentage points compared to November. Wind power increased by 7.4%, but the growth rate decreased by 19.2 percentage points from November. Solar power generation, on the other hand, increased by 17.2%, with the growth rate declining by 18.2 percentage points from November.
